Islamic Militarism Since 600 A.D.
[ send me this essay ]
A 5 page research paper that discusses the history of Islamic militarism. One hears a great deal, in this age of Islamic terrorism, about how the Muslim instigators of indiscriminant violence are not true "Muslims." However, an overview of Islamic militarism shows that, as with Christianity, violence and aggression are integral to Islamic history and that this history very much pertains to the current situation. The writer first discusses Islamic militarism, beginning in 600 A.D. and continuing to the Crusades and then relates this militaristic tradition to Islamic belief and current terrorism. J.M.W. Turner as the Epitome of Romantic Art
[ send me this essay ]
This 10 page
report discusses the work of the 19th century British painter
J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851) and the fact that his work serves as a
consummate example of what Romanticism in art was and is.
Instead of simply recording what he saw before him, Turner was
able to translate the scenes he painted into light-filled
expressions of his own romantic feelings. In other words, he
expressed what is the most fundamental aspect of Romanticism --
showing the sublime in what might be thought of as ordinary. One
critic of this age has referred to Turner’s work as “music in
paint.” Bibliography lists 6 sources.
